Universal Application.

The clouds ring the moon as
apples fall from trees to my lap
and fill themselves with deductions.

Because oh how we perceive
human interactions
and oh how we value them.
(Or don’t)

Do not limit the polestar to the physical:

Embrace the celestial happenings among worldlings;
Understanding the absent
and helping the absent understand.

I watched Waking Life a little today and I feel like this picture, that my boyfriend took of me, has a lot in common with that movie.

Love is Instinctual

Everything you know,
I know(will know ).

These are our ties,
words are dead
and we are the Connex.

We are all biologically wired
to electrically receive
one another.

Positives to Negatives,
or something like that.

Chi City Exposes (You)tube

A few months ago my boyfriend and I watched a few Chi City videos. He’s pretty funny.
Also, he has a vocabulary.
Watch this whole video because it’s pretty informative, and funny.

Sometimes Growing Up Will Do That.

I can remember you when
your faulty promises
didn’t really matter,
because there was always tomorrow.

I remember you when baseball
was the best sport ever.

When smiling was a must
with raspberries on my stomach
to match my brothers.

Fishing was quiet time.

School was never a disappointment
and snorkeling was invented
on paradise.

And now I can see you.

You’re withered and cowering
pointing with your cracked fingernail
and spitting from your dentures.

You are just as human as I,
and now I can see you.

Toothache Militia

Grab a hold of the blood vessels
and constrict until we get a vibration,
that’s when you know she’s hurting.
She’s neglected our presence
for too long now,
we’re going to make her pay for that.
So grip tightly to the enamel
and push and pull until it’s brittle.
When she bites down
it’s more than just food coming out.
Get down in those gums
and poke them until they’re swollen.
We need her crawling to the dentist
so we can retire fat and happy.

Honey Comb

Life isn’t always
bees and honey.
Sometimes it’s just bees.

Good thing I’m not allergic.

Little blond hair and blue eyes,
I’m waiting for you.
And your tiny diapers
and clean pink fingernails.

Daughter of my dreams
I already know your face.
Your voice has graced my ears
and black crayon suns have dawned
on the back of red and yellow
fisher price chairs.

You are my little sunshine
but there are clouds now
and a little rain.
And with 48 new moons
maybe they’ll have faded
and you can poke your face
into the lining of my womb.

You’re Never too Young for Alliteration.

10/24/2009

Dave Jarecki writes poetry, fiction and nonfiction from his home in Portland, Ore., and teaches writing workshops throughout the Greater Portland area. You can read and listen to his work at http://davejarecki.com.
Below is a poem written by one of his workshop students Ben.

BLT Boy & Candygum

purchase pink pickpockets
for pork pachyderms of paradise
who are cruel drinking
and please the fleas
who ride ferrets
for freaky fools
fooling with humvees.

Ultimately I was captured by this poem because the alliteration was so quick and clean. Then I scrolled up to actually read David’s entire post and found out it was written by an 8yr old boy. I’m simply amazed that someone could have the ability to reach the youth on something that most children and young adults don’t have interest in. This inspires me so much more to strive to be that teacher, that mentor, or friend.
